1)These people are called heroes probably because they have done something special for others, or they have known throughout the world for what they brought for others in the society.

2) Yes of course, I know  most of them . For instance, Robin Hood was known as the outlaw of Nothingham (England) who robs to the rich to give to the poor!!
Concerning the french heroe Coluche, thanks  to him in France lot of family are not starving. It's still true nowadays with the " Resto du Coeur".

3) Lady Diana was an heroine through all she has done for poor people all other the world. She was always helping others with fund and especially when she walked through a minefield in Africa. She fought for banning landmines but also helping with palliatives care for HIV or AIDS people.
George Clooney also is one of them fighting for human's rights in Sudan and elsewhere. 
Bono from U2, Elton John, are fighting against aids or helping Amnesty International. They are lots of heroes and heroines too.

4) A myth is mainly based on symbolic behavior, places or objects. It come from the creation of the Earth! It's based on a particular tradition of each society. In every society myth exist. It become universal throughout the tales, the legends involving God or historical event or people. And in every society there is a strong desire for justice and during the last events in France crowds of citizens applauded their heroes

5) Since the world is world people need heroes. If you ask a child to tell you who is his hero  he will probably answer his father or mother. It show us the good behavior we need to succeed in life. Heroes inspire everyone to go forwards no matter advercity we are facing. It give hope for some, courage for others. They give also wisdom.
