I left England because the country was at war (en guerre)
Only women and children could go on the Mayflower. Men had to stay for fighting against the enemy.
So, I left with my mother and my three sisters.My dad and my two brothers werent allowed to come with us.
Unfortunatly, my younger sister, only two years old, died during the trip.
After a few days, we had no more food neither water. It was really cold. We suffered a lot
The whole trip lasted almost three months
When we finally arrived , and walked on the land of the New World, it was as magical as frightening. We didn't know what to expect.
When we saw the Indians the first time, we kept our distances. So did they. Then we began to learn to know each other. I met two young ladies and we became really close. They were my two best friends
The indians taught us how to light a fire, how to hunt...it was a bit difficult hunting; we were women only. So, they did it for us. But we went fishing, and made plantations of some unkonwn vegetables as sweet potatoes, pumkins.
The first winter was hard, but the Indians were a great help. They gave us blankets they had made, brought us some food and never left us alone.
At the end of the next summer, every thig we had planted had been growing. So we decided to organize a big meal to thanks our hosts. We roasted meat they had hunted, fishes we had caught, made smashed sweet potatoes, grilled corn and managed to cook carrots and pumpkin pie.
That was our first Thanksgiving
I still think about my dad and my brothers and I hope some day we'll be alltogether
